Mahar (Sindhi tribe)
The Mahar are a Sindhi Muslim Rajput tribe found among both the Seraiki people of South Punjab, Pakistan as well as being found in Sindh, Pakistan.

The tribe claims descent from Mahar, who was a Rajput. In Lilla Thal, they are Jethals
British historians, such as Sir H Elliot, have identified the tribe with the ancient Meds, a tribe that lived in Sindh at the time of the Umayyad conquest.According to modern research Maher,Meo Meds,Meer,Meru and Mayer means mountain and are racially the same.Their forefathers in past used to live on Meeru mountain in Russia,to days Eukaraine.Meo is originally a sindhi tribe and also called Mehad or Mehard.Mehars of Sindh are the cousins of Meos. Village Meo Maher was the previous abode Meo Mahers. All these tribes are Arians and belong to human haplo group R1a1a1, which is specific to Arians.
